Home

We’re coming home. Jim and I were married in 2005 and within just a few months after, I accepted a teaching job in AZ. We sold our house and packed up, said our goodbyes and moved to a small town in the “middle of nowhere, leave you for dead country”, as Jim likes to call it. Nearly three years later we are coming back home.

I don’t know if one can truly appreciate what one has until they do without. We all are thankful for our lives and the lives around us to some degree but once the things you love and cherish are gone, by your choice or the choice of another, you truly find the value it had within you. This I learned almost immediately after we moved. I was so starry eyed about leaving Utah and moving back to Arizona that it didn’t seem to matter where in AZ we ended up. I was very wrong.

We eventually were so blessed and had our son Xander. He brought with him a love to our lives that we had never known and also a whole new urgency to be with our family. I can’t imagine my life without my son in it and we both want him to grow up surrounded by his family. Jim and I have more love for him then we may have for our selves. Soon after he was born Jim told me if ever there was a question of life, between his or Xander’s to take his, no question. I feel the same. He is our life and soul.

With our last visit to Salt Lake it became more evident to Jim that it was time for us to move home. The cards have been falling into place, we haven’t sold our house but we did find some excellent renters, two cops with a small family, and have found a home in Sandy that feels like home again.
